Every professional photographer
maintains a portfolio just like every models maintains a model portfolio photography containing photos of their work.
Modeling is actually more professional than it seems. It is not exactly a
random walk on the runway by a string of long legged beauties. Every move,
every expression, every pose and every tilt of the hip is choreographed and
practiced along with a touch of natural flair that only the model can express.
But it is this natural flair that
agencies look for, so that should be highlighted and portrayed in portfolios.
So basically what is a model portfolio? Rarely
does anyone understand the meaning of portfolio. It is more than a bunch of
photos held together in an album. It is more of a gate pass into the foyer of
the modeling industry. So something of that sort should meet up to its
importance.
‘One photo describes a thousand words’, and
quite frankly no one has the time to listen to words. That’s why the portfolio
has to speak for itself. So what is portfolio? The portfolio meaning so much
might seem unnecessary for some, but for those who understand, as a rule opt
for a photographer who excels in portfolio photography. It’s the best way to
bring quality to a portfolio photography tips.
A good quality modeling portfolio need not necessarily
have plenty of photos. A few choice photos which portray the model in the best
light would be a better option. And it would be a waste if the photographs are
of a good quality but your make- up and style is not quite up to it. Investing
in a make- up artist would go a long way in adding interest to the photos. And
the agency would prefer, if they see the model compatible to many dressing
styles. So stow away all those t- shirt and jeans and go for a variety of
styles including ethnic wear, party wear, formals, summer wear and such.
Finally, having photos taken before two years would be of no good. Do not have
old photos of sentimental value, maybe in a personal album, but definitely not
in a portfolio. Keep updating!!
